Garvald Edinburgh

We are known as Garvald Edinburgh. We provide day, accommodation and support services for adults with disabilities. We are inspired by the work of Rudolf Steiner.

In our work we recognise and value the uniqueness of each person. We seek to create a quality of environment in which activities and social relationships will be enabled. We want to allow people to realise their potential.

Creative day support

A dynamic and broad range of arts and crafts are on offer including ceramics, glasswork, woodwork, weaving and textiles, as well as puppet-making and performance.
Members can also participate in regular exhibitions, highlighting the extraordinary work that is produced.
There are opportunities for people to develop work and retail skills in the Mulberry Bush, Garvald's shop in Morningside, and in food production settings, such as our Cafes, Organic Bakery and Confectionary. In our Tools Workshop members gain skills in refurbishing donated tools, furniture and sewing machines, and are able to support and build links with local and international aid projects.

Support Services

Garvald support services provide a range of support including accommodation based support. Garvald supports people to live in their own homes whether it be our community house, in shared/single tenancies or from their own/family homes. Garvald can assist in finding accommodation for people through our connections with housing associations and other contacts such as Ownership Options.

Support ranges from just a few hours a week up to 24 hour support including sleep over support. All support is tailored to the needs of the individual.
